Ok so which video format do you think or know will look best on a dvd player.
DVD NTSC video movie,
Mpeg 1 movie, or
Mpeg 2 movie?

it really depends. although the video format does affect the quality of a video, ex. mpeg1,mpeg 2, avi and etc. there are actually a lot more factors that will affects the dvd’s video output quality.

some factors are.
1. resolution
2. compression
3. framerate
4. the conversion method or the video converter and etc.

Most normal DVD player only recognize the standard video DVD which include VOB, IFO and BUP files, don’t recognize the data DVD(directly write video files on dvd disc, like mpeg1/2 on disc). And both NTSC and PAL are TV system, NTSC is the TV system used in North America and most of South America, PAL is the TV system mostly used Europe, so if you live in USA, you should use NTSC DVD format. Normal video DVD only support 720×480(ntsc) or 720×576(pal) video resolution, so you can’t keep the video resolution higher than this, but if your DVD player support Divx or Xvid video, you can use some good software to convert your movies to Divx AVI Video/Xvid AVI Video, and play well on your Divx/Xvid certified dvd player. Convert any videos to standard video DVD/Divx AVI video/Xvid AVI video, there is an easy way and the better choice, you can try RZ DVD Creator, it can covnert any videos to the best quality Standard video DVD/Divx AVI Video/Xvid AVI video, and can burn to any DVD disc(DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-RW, DVD+RW, DVD-R DL, DVD+R DL, etc). The burned DVD can be played well on normal DVD player. You can yahoo or google search RZ DVD Creator and download it, good quality, easy to use, hope it can help you.
